Watercolouring & Stitching (Plus a small Giveaway) - July Cards Part 1

I am trying to do a life overhaul because I spent almost two weeks in a zombie state of mind. I guess I was pretty tired of facing mountains of paperwork which I have some trouble trying to keep up. But now being the school holidays, I thought I should get some rest even if it's a mere two days break from work excluding the weekend.

I also almost forget the existence of my little card shop because I don't have anything new to showcase. However, during this zombie period, I did pick up some new techniques because I don't want to be just a paste and stick cardmaker. Well, technically I still use this method but I included some mixed media art into it. I am far from being a mixed media artist so you won't see me creating beautiful masterpieces. The whole point is to have fun. So nowadays, I tend to make my cards for my monthly order in advance. Of course, due to work commitments, there will be like 2-3 cards that I have to make quickly to make up the numbers but I do not of course, compromise on the quality. But I'm a perfectionist (at least when it comes to cardmaking) so I try my best to make it perfect and to make a nice good quality card, time is a factor.

Speaking of time, because I was new to watercolouring and stitching on zee cards, the first one I did took a ridiculous amount of time. Plus I was using a clear journal card which I have difficulty sticking it on without showing the glue marks. I used the water colouring methods for the edge of the border and also some parts of the patterned paper in the background to add some depth to it.

Result?

Well, you shall be the judge of it,  haha. I thought it isn't so bad. I used Faber Castell water colouring pencils and then use a wet brush to paint over the colour. I also don't have a sewing machine so I poked holes into the card and threaded through them.

By the way, despite my absence from my humble shop, I did notice an increase in the number of 'likes' so I thought, why not give one of my cards away as a small thank you. I would stamp the word 'THANKS' inside of the card as a kind gesture.

Do read on to find out how you get one of these cards for yourself. By the way, I will select only one if there is more than one interested party. However, if there is quite a number of people, I may do another one card for giveaway because I'm that nice..haha.

I don't have a front view of this card. But I guess you can still see the design.

Side View

Card 1 (Birds on Wire)

Yes, this is the card which took me a long time! If you can see, I used water colouring, stitching and use white dabber paint to give it a distressed look. The use of clear journal card is also quite a pain  but overall, I'm satisfied with the whole look.

Card 2 (Happy Smile)
I didn't use the method of using clear gloss accent to so called 'accent' certain embellishments like in this case, sticker chipboards. It gives a nice dimension to them. An alternative to using pop dots. I also did some straight stitching on top of vellum paper.

Card 3 (Bits & Pieces)
I used stamping for this card and I like how it forms a nice background. I also fussy cut a small group of flowers and added some gold glitters to it. I added some water colouring to the background patterned paper. The prima flower has a nice little looped pearl string attached to it.

Card 4 (Give Love)
There is some 3D elements to the card when I use paper blossoms on it. Plus I also made use of some recycled items like the blue ribbon from a packaging and the string of faux diamonds. I also distressed the background paper with some white paint including on the printed die cut. I dotted the edge of the top patterned paper with baby blue liquid pearl.
