Handmade Canvas Wall Decor & Bigshot Party

I attended a Sizzix BigShot Party last week and I was eager to attend because the cost was affordable and there would be food and drinks while learning new skills and the how-to's in using the BigShot machine from Sizzix. Oh, there was also lucky draw which I was so happy because I won one of the prizes, yay!

But ultimately, it was more about the skills that I wish to learn from the best and what you watch online or attempt to learn and re-create the looks can often be more difficult than learning one on one with them. Sure, I have picked up numerous skills online as well but being told the proper ways to do it through coaching is even more beneficial including the generous tips they dished out along the way.

It's not always about paper chase but learning other skills related to long-term learning because life is more than just chasing promotions, making money and paying the bills. Life is about living it.

Throughout the 3 hour course, I really must thank the instructors around who were very patient with us and yet allow us to be creative in choosing the colours and how we want to paint it while teaching us the basic steps in assembling the canvas. I admit that using the machine was quite new to me and involved a bit of work before rolling the piece of paper and cardboard through the machine a few times. Although I have used it rather frequently for some of my projects, my knowledge on using it is barely 5%.

I also had a bit of trouble cutting the mini card to fit into the slot and the blunt blade on the cutter didn't help so I resorted to handcutting and you've probably read about me mentioning this many times; I ain't good in cutting straight lines, lol! I ended up making numerous cuts until it finally fit into the slot..phewh.

I struggled a bit because I'm a painting noob and somehow my painting didn't look as inspiring as others and they made it look easy when I studied the projects online, haha. Nevertheless, I told myself to not compare my project with other people and just concentrate on making a 'masterpiece' for myself. Well technically, it's not but you know, the fact is I did it myself is an achievement by itself.

Normally, I don't do this type of design but I'm willing to put in the work and to finally create a true masterpiece just like these seasoned crafters.

So am I gonna stop at this only? Nope! Infact, I am so eager to make a similar one for a friend's upcoming birthday. Can't wait to show you here one day (if I managed it successfully, haha)

Thanks for dropping by!
